My goals are three-fold. As an educator, instructional coach and dancer, I want to continue to enhance my knowledge and capacity for teaching, coaching and dancing. I plan to do more reading and studying to increase my knowledge of technology, leadership/coaching, STEM concepts/best practices and dance connections to STEM. I will utilize the many STEM resources that I’ve learned in the MSU Urban STEM Leadership Program to help me be a more effective STEM instructor, coach, and overall STEM leader.
I also plan to expose my students to more STEM experiences that include theoretical and practical hands-on application of STEM skills and concepts. I plan to develop their understanding and capacity for applying technology in their pursuit of knowledge and higher education. One way I will do this is to continue having students create and further develop electronic portfolios to house their best STEM work and utilize during high school searches and college and career exploration. I plan to enable students to be authentic learners in that they utilize technology, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity to work through and on real-world problems and projects that essentially develop skills that they can utilize in the 21st Century workplace. This also includes utilizing my STEMDance curriculum to help make math and science connections to the art of dance.
Lastly, I will aim to build teacher capacity for STEM learning and instruction. I want to increase teacher resources inside and outside of the school so that teachers can develop skills within their own instructional setting, while also utilizing outside STEM resources as partnerships to help facilitate planning and implementation of STEM instruction and learning.
